How Fantasy works

Everything you need to know to build a squad, understand scoring, and climb the leaderboard.

The basics

Each professional padel tournament tracked on PadelCourtsider is a separate contest. Sign in, then pick a squad of real players for any contest that's still open — your squad earns points as those players' matches are completed during the tournament.

There's no cost to play. Compete on the per-contest leaderboard, or the global leaderboard that adds up your points across every contest you've entered.

Building a squad

  • Pick up to 6 players — individually, not as pairs. You don't have to fill every slot; even a single pick is a valid squad.
  • Every player has a price, set by their current ranking points (not just their ranking position) — so the price gradient is smooth even where rankings tie or skip. Prices rise steeply near the very top: a single elite-tier pick already costs more than half the budget, and two of them together always blow it — stacking the game's best players is impossible, not just expensive.
  • Your whole squad must fit under a 100-point budget. One star pick plus several cheaper value picks is the realistic ceiling — rewarding a scouting eye, not just picking the highest ranking names.
  • Give your squad a team name — this is what shows up on the leaderboard.
  • You can edit your squad as many times as you like — swap players, add or drop picks, rename your team — right up until the contest locks.

Contest status

  • Open — every match is still upcoming; your squad is fully editable.
  • Live — at least one match has started; the squad locks so everyone competes on the same picks for the rest of the tournament.
  • Completed — the tournament has finished and results are final.

Once a contest locks you can still view your squad and watch your points update, but you can't change your picks.

Scoring

Each of your players earns points independently for every match they play, based on the round and the result. Losing always costs something — never a free pass — and the penalty gets steeper the earlier the exit and bigger the favorite:

EventPoints
Winning a match+3
Reaching the semi-final+1
Reaching the final+2
Winning the title+5
Dominant win bonus (each set won beyond two)+1
Losing in Round of 32 or earlier-5 (up to -10 for a top favorite)
Losing in Round of 16-4 (up to -8 for a top favorite)
Losing in the quarter-final-3 (up to -6 for a top favorite)
Losing in the semi-final-2 (up to -4 for a top favorite)
Losing the final-1 (up to -2 for a top favorite)

Bonuses stack: a player who wins the final after taking a lopsided three-set match earns the win, final, title, and dominant-win bonuses all at once. The "reaching the semi-final/final" bonuses still apply even on a loss, so a deep run that ends in a final defeat nets out close to even — it's crashing out early as the expected winner that really hurts. Loss penalties scale up to 2x for the highest-ranked players by ranking points: picking the biggest, most expensive favorites is also the riskiest strategy, since their losses cost roughly double what an underdog's loss would. Points are awarded as soon as a match is marked completed, usually within minutes of the result.

Your team score

Your team's score for a contest is simply the sum of the points earned by every player in your squad across all of their matches in that tournament — however many you picked, up to 6. The global leaderboard adds your scores across all contests you've entered.
